Sheikh Khalifa Okene to Commission Fully Furnished 4-Bedroom Bungalow Built by My People First foundation for Elderly Widow in Okene on June 12, 2027

A humanitarian organization, My People First Foundation, is set to officially commission a newly built and fully furnished four-bedroom bungalow for an elderly widow, Mama Salametu Shaibu, in Obehira-Uvete community, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, on June 12, 2027.

The life-changing gesture, spearheaded by the Founder of the Foundation, Haj Aishat Oyiza Omade , has continued to attract commendations from residents and well-meaning Nigerians who describe the intervention as a rare act of compassion and humanity.

Speaking with newsmen on behalf of the foundation, the Chairman of the House Commissioning Committee, Hon. Matthew James Avabee, disclosed that preparations for the historic event have reached an advanced stage, assuring that the house and its facilities are fully ready for commissioning and it’s to be commissioned by a great Philanthropist and community builder, Sheikh Abdulrahaman Khalifa Okene.

According to him, only final touches are being carried out ahead of the event, while the committee is fully prepared to receive guests, dignitaries, community leaders, and supporters from different walks of life who are expected to witness the remarkable humanitarian gesture.

He noted that the project stands as a symbol of hope, kindness, and service to humanity, especially to vulnerable members of society who have long been neglected.

The story of Mama Salametu Shaibu first came to public attention through a viral video that exposed the heartbreaking condition under which the elderly woman was living. The video revealed her struggling daily in a severely dilapidated mud house that posed serious risks to her health and safety, while also battling hunger and extreme hardship.

Moved by the pathetic situation, My People First Foundation immediately intervened by providing emergency relief materials, foodstuffs, and temporary support to ease her suffering. Beyond the immediate assistance, the foundation placed the elderly woman on a monthly stipend of ₦100,000 beginning from March 2027 to ensure her comfort and wellbeing.

In what many have described as an extraordinary display of compassion, the foundation proceeded to demolish the old unsafe structure and commenced the construction of a befitting modern bungalow for the aged woman immediately in march.

The newly completed building is said to be fully equipped and tastefully furnished with modern household facilities designed to give Mama Salametu a dignified and comfortable life.

Residents of Obehira-Uvete community have continued to pour encomiums on the foundation and its founder, describing the intervention as one that restores hope to humanity and demonstrates genuine love for the less privileged.

Many community members believe the gesture will remain a reference point for humanitarian service in Kogi State and beyond, while calling on individuals, public office holders, and organizations to emulate such acts of kindness toward the vulnerable in society.

The commissioning ceremony is expected to attract notable personalities, political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, women associations, and humanitarian organizations from within and outside Kogi State.
