The Apostolic Church of Nigeria Should Save the Body of Christ from Further Embarrassment
Omi community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State is using this medium to draw the attention and appeal to the management of The Apostolic Church of Nigeria to urgently address the insensitive and the waywardness of one of its pastors stationed in Omi Assembly in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. The information so far gathered reveals that the said pastor, Pastor J. A. Olawuyi has been at dagger drawn with some members of his church and Omi community.
The information equally reveals an earlier reaction by the community through a letter addressed to the office of “Egbe Area Superintendent,
The Apostolic Church Nigeria,
Egbe Area LAWNA Territory,
Egbe, Yagba West L G A,
Kogi State” dated 17th February, 2025 and signed by one Prince Bolarin Friday Ogungbemi, National Vice Chairman, Omi Descendants Association on behalf of the National Chairman, the letter titled,
“REQUEST THAT THE MINISTER -IN-CHARGE OF THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH NIGERIA, OMI ASSEMBLY PASTOR J. A. OLAWUYI SHOULD BE TRANSFERRED OUT OF THE COMMUNITY WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT”.
Some of the reasons given that necessitated this call are as follow, that the activities of PASTOR J. A. OLAWUYI has hindered a united evangelism within our community as his actions and inactions have continuously polarized the Christian body, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the community. Furthermore, TACN Omi Assembly under his leadership has since disassociated herself from the activities of the Christian Association of Nigeria within the town.
It is equally of note that prominent members of TACN Omi Assembly have left the church for other churches.
Finally sir, it has generally been observed that the countenance of Pastor J. A. Olawuyi towards the members of TACN, Omi Assembly, Christian body and Omi community is becoming highly unruly, worrisome and unbecoming of a man saddles with the responsibilities to lead the people back to Christ.
Therefore, the community humbly requests that Pastor J. A. Olawuyi be transferred out of Omi community with immediate effect.
It has been generally observed that the management TACN undermined the authority of Omi community and its leadership. Information also reveals that Pastor Olawuyi do not relate with indigenes of the community who are clerics and who are highly respected by the community.
A cross section of the community feel highly disappointed and disgusted that the church is not sensitive to some of the issues raised in the earlier letter written to the Church leadership.
Our findings also show a good number of his church members do not want him again in the church. Many members are afraid of him because they have alleged that he is diabolical and he continuously brags about his ability to damn the consequences of his actions when confronted by the Church members.
The copies of the earlier letter were sent to the Area Superintendent in Egbe and we’re also made available to the Divisional Police Officer in Odo-Ere, the Director State Security Service, the Commandant Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps all in Yagba West Local Government Area.
The activities of this said Pastor is inimical and embarrassing to the Christian body in the community. The reputation and honour of Pastor J. A. Olawuyi has dropped beyond imagination and repair and is unbecoming of man saddles with evangelical responsibility.
The community had earlier sent delegations to the Area Superintendent in Egbe Pastor David A. Abubakar appealing and giving cogent reasons why it is very important that the Church gets Pastor Olawuyi transferred out of Omi community to save the church and Christian body from further embarrassment.
The management of Apostolic Church of Nigeria should see this request as a matter of exigency that should be given utmost attention and actions.
