The Legends’ Club of Okunland Organizes Civic Reception in Honor of Federal Appointees from Okun Extraction

The Legends’ Club of Okunland, a reputable organization of distinguished individuals, hosted a civic reception to honor federal appointees from Okun extraction.
The event, held at Harris Hotel in Wuye, Abuja, brought together the appointees, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), representing Governor Usman Ododo, Hon. Idris Salman, member representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Ambassador Rotimi Akenson, President-General of Okun Development Area, Hon. Dnc. Olusuyi Otitoju, National Coordinator of Okun Development Initiatives, and other dignitaries.
In his address, the President of the club, Dr. Femi Olubiyo, emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating Okun individuals appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
He noted that the Legends’ Club is a group of like-minded individuals committed to driving development in Okunland, regardless of their specific origins within the region.
Dr. Olubiyo highlighted the core values of an Okun person, including honesty, integrity, and hard work, and charged the appointees to uphold these values while implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
He also reminded them not to forget their roots and to prioritize the development needs of Okunland, particularly in infrastructure and human capacity.
The President-General of the Okun Development Association (ODA), Ambassador Rotimi Akenson, commended the Legends’ Club for their initiative and expressed his organization’s willingness to collaborate with any group working towards the betterment of Okunland.
The event honored several appointees, including:
– Mrs. Folashade Adekaiyaoja, First Female Deputy Director General of the Department of State Security (represented by another Okun woman, Director Crisis Management, DSS, Mrs. Sure)
– Hon. Durosinmi Meseko, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman, Governing Board, Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI)

– Hon. Funsho Olumoko, Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Paskin, Plateau State

The occasion served as a platform for the Legends’ Club to congratulate the appointees and encourage them to be good ambassadors of Okunland while contributing to the country’s development.
