“This Can Only Be God”: Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji Hails Hon. Wemi Jones, Thanks His Wife For Sacrifice of Holding The Family Together
LAGOS — A prominent Kogi State leader and the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom in Ijumu Local Government Area, Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji, has commended the Honourable Commissioner for Education in Kogi State, Hon Wemi Jones, described a new business facility commissioned in Lagos as “a new dimension” and “the work of God.”
He also publicly thanked Mrs. Wemi Jones, wife of the investor, for releasing her husband to serve Kogi State in the last seven years.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Prince Olatunji said he was “not surprised” by the quality of the project because the vision he saw being executed in Lagos has already been “well transmitted” to what the investor is doing back home in Kogi State.
“I am not surprised because of what I’ve seen here today. The vision he had here is well transmitted to what he is doing in Kogi State,” he said.
“And I want to thank you for this great transformation that you have done here today. This can only be God.”
In an emotional tribute, he turned to the investor’s wife and commended her for the sacrifice of sharing her husband with public service.
“I want to also congratulate you, and thank you for allowing your husband to share his family time with us in Kogi State in the last seven years,” he stated.
“Mothers will especially thank you because to be a politician is not easy. Once you become a politician, you no longer have a private life. You are a public office holder.
So I want to thank you publicly, Madam, for releasing your husband to us. He’s one of the best shining stars we have in Kogi State.”
Prince Olatunji praised the standard of the new facility, citing the lighting, air-conditioning, and especially the conveniences — an area he noted is often neglected in Nigeria.
“It’s a very fine environment. The lighting is good. The air-conditioning system is excellent. And I want to also add, because in Nigeria, we don’t pay much attention to details — your company did. The conveniences — you paid attention to that aspect.
If you go to some beautiful hotels in Nigeria and event centers, when you go to their restrooms, it’s nothing to write about. So I want to particularly commend you for that.”
He urged that the same standard be maintained, adding: “So that when people come here, everything about this place will be perfect.”
Looking ahead, he expressed optimism that the Lagos investment would birth more businesses and challenged the investor to replicate a similar project in Kogi State.
“This is not going to be the last business you establish in Lagos. This business is going to give birth to other businesses. And I want to also appeal to you: bring something like this to Kogi so that we will continue to enjoy it, because this is my family.”
He concluded by congratulating the investor on the achievement and praying for God’s blessings.
The event, attended by dignitaries from Kogi and Lagos, also had moments of light banter as the speaker noted guests “struggling to clap” due to the cold from the air-conditioners.
“I can see people struggling to clap. I can see everyone hiding their hands… But I want to say, this is just a new dimension.”
He compared the investor’s expertise to global standards, saying: “I’m sure we all know the popular Disney… and he has brought his wealth of knowledge.”
The commissioning marks another milestone for Kogi indigenes investing and creating jobs outside the state, while also impacting development at home.
