Tribunal Victory Kogi Assembly Speaker congratulates Lokoja/Kogi (Kotonkarfe) NASS Member

…describes it as confirmation of people’s will

5th April, 2023

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has congratulated the member representing Lokoja/Kogi (Kotonkarfe) Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Danladi Suleiman Aguye over the tribunal judgement which affirmed his victory at the general election.

This is contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

The Speaker said he had no doubt that the victory of Hon Aguye at the polls was no fluke in view of the hard work, dedication, humility and willingness to work put in by the then candidate with whom he said they ran a robust campaign and got the mandate of the generality of the electorate.

“What has made this judgement more befitting is the fact that as a brother and friend, Hon Aguye is dedicated to working for the people of the two Local Government Areas that make up the Federal Constituency and his early days have shown his sincerity,” the speaker stressed.

He added, “Hon Aguye is a man that has similar ideology to the three of us from his constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly. He is also collaborating with us and open to suggestions from his constituents, as are we. We have a synergy that will bring unprecedented development to the federal Constituency and we thank the Judiciary for being unbiased as demonstrated by their objective adjudication on the matter throughout the sittings.”

“The judiciary remains the last of hope of every citizens. As the interpreters of our laws, the judiciary has always shown its importance to democracy and we thank their lordships and justices for the judgement in favour of what is just and truly reflecting the choice made by the electorate.

While calling on the opposition parties to close ranks and work with Hon Aguye, he assured them that the National Assembly member is a man that has the determination to unite the political family in the area, noting that Aguye is also magnanimous in victory and has already extended arms of fellowship to them. He therefore urged them to accept the olive branch for the good of the area.
