Uproar, Accusations and Counter Accusations, Marred NULGE Polls in Plateau State.

There is tension among the members of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), in Plateau state, following the illegal disqualification of some Aspirants of the position of the President and also a plan to conduct the state election rather than Local branches.

These move did not go well with the majority members of the Union, especially the supporters of the disqualified Candidates and there supporters. They petition their National officials, and National EXCO then summoned the two parties for a reconciliation in Abuja, some resolutions were made and according to one of the Candidates who was among those that were in attendance, there was a resolution that a local branch elections be conducted and other issues but the state Executives led by Comrade Arondong completely abandoned those resolutions and when ahead with the said election in a flagrant violation of the Union’s Constitution.

They also accused the Union for imposing delegates without proper procedures of nominating them.

If you can be recalled some of the members two weeks, held a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat in Jos and caution the Arondong led EXCO to respect the Union’s Constitution and provide a level playing ground for all the contestants and their supporters.

The Executives members swiftly responded to the press conference by Maxwell Izere as an empty allegations.

The situation remain tense as of the time of filling this report.

Some aggrieved members of the Union, who spoke to this medium on the conditions of annoniminity, said the cangaroo election that’s slated for today despite the appeals and entreaties to the Arondong group to conduct the election within the tenets of the Union’s Constitution proved abortive.

They said that,we will not relent in our efforts to do everything within the dictates of the Constitution and stopped the so called Election.

They further appeal to the state Government to desist from interfering with the unions activities.

The direct interference of government is purely responsible for the quagmire and illegality being perpetrating by the executives of the Union.

Asked which procedure will they employed to stop the election as scheduled for today?

One of them said, we have reported the matter before the Commissioner of Police and the Police have invited three members from both sides for reconciliation.

As things continue to unfold,we will be following the events and activities of the Union.

All efforts to get Comrade Arondong via Phone call for his response proved abortive.
