A massive political wave swept through Kebbi South Senatorial District over the weekend as thousands of supporters, political associates, youth groups, traditional loyalists, and community stakeholders turned out in large numbers to welcome Distinguished Senator Garba Musa Maidoki during his visit to Zuru following the death of his younger brother, Alhaji Suleiman Musa Ozun.
The emotional and politically charged reception, which stretched across communities within the Zuru and Yauri Emirates, has been described by observers as one of the largest spontaneous political gatherings witnessed in recent years in Kebbi State.
Residents from various local government areas under Kebbi South openly demonstrated overwhelming love, loyalty, and confidence in Senator Maidoki, declaring that their political future remains tied to his leadership and direction.
Many of the supporters also expressed deep dissatisfaction with the leadership style and internal affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, alleging lack of fairness, justice, and inclusiveness within the party structure.
Chanting solidarity songs and waving banners bearing the inscription “Maidoki Continuity”, supporters repeatedly declared that wherever Senator Maidoki decides to move politically, they are prepared to follow him “without hesitation.”
Political observers believe the development may signal a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially considering Senator Maidoki’s growing influence across Kebbi South and beyond.
The atmosphere in Zuru town became highly emotional as supporters lined major roads to receive the senator, while traditional drummers, youth groups, women associations, and political loyalists accompanied his convoy into the ancient emirate.
The visit was primarily to sympathize with family members and the people of Zuru Emirate over the passing of his younger brother, Alhaji Suleiman Musa Ozun, whose death occurred last week and drew condolences from political leaders and dignitaries across the country.
Despite the mourning atmosphere, the gathering quickly transformed into a strong political statement as supporters openly reaffirmed their commitment and allegiance to Senator Maidoki.
Speaking during the reception, Senator Garba Musa Maidoki thanked the people of Kebbi South for their unwavering support, prayers, and solidarity during his family’s difficult moment.
Senator Maidoki’s Address
“I am deeply touched by this overwhelming show of love, solidarity, and loyalty demonstrated by the good people of Kebbi South. What I witnessed today is beyond politics; it is a relationship built on trust, sacrifice, and mutual respect.”
“I thank the people of Zuru Emirate, Yauri Emirate, and the entire Kebbi South for standing firmly with me and my family during this moment of grief. May Almighty Allah reward you abundantly and strengthen the hearts of all of us.”
“Leadership is about justice, fairness, and service to humanity. The people deserve to be respected, consulted, and carried along in all political decisions. I assure you that I will continue to protect the interests of our people and work for the progress of Kebbi South.”
“Wherever the future political journey leads us, we shall continue to stand together in unity, peace, and determination for the betterment of our people.”
The senator also called for peace, patience, and political maturity among his supporters, urging them to remain law-abiding and focused on collective progress rather than division.
Political stakeholders present at the gathering described Senator Maidoki as a courageous and grassroots-oriented leader whose popularity continues to rise across Kebbi State due to his accessibility, empowerment programs, and strong relationship with ordinary citizens.
Several supporters who spoke during the event insisted that Senator Maidoki remains their undisputed political leader and “the guiding light of Kebbi South politics.”
One community elder from Yauri Emirate stated:
“The people have spoken clearly today. Senator Maidoki is not alone. The masses are solidly behind him, and wherever he goes politically, the people will go with him.”
Another youth leader in Zuru declared:
“This crowd is a message to the entire political class in Kebbi State. The people want leadership based on justice, fairness, and sincerity.”
The development is expected to generate fresh political conversations within Kebbi State APC circles, especially amid increasing speculations about possible defections, alliances, and strategic political movements ahead of 2027.
Analysts say the open declaration of loyalty by thousands of supporters across Kebbi South could reshape the political landscape of the state if current tensions within the APC remain unresolved.
For now, however, one message appears unmistakably clear from the streets of Zuru and Yauri: Senator Garba Musa Maidoki continues to command extraordinary grassroots support, and his political influence in Kebbi South remains deeply rooted among the people.
