Yagba People Endorse Leke Abejide’s Third-Term Bid as Massive Crowd Welcomes Him Home

A massive crowd of supporters, political associates, community leaders and residents of Yagba Federal Constituency on Thursday welcomed the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs and Excise, Rt. Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, during his homecoming rally.
The colourful reception, which brought together people from the three local government areas that make up the constituency—Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro—was marked by solidarity and calls for Abejide to seek another term in the National Assembly.
The event was organised by the Executive Chairmen of the three local government areas that make up Yagba Federal Constituency.
Addressing the gathering, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Chief (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade; Dr. Toyin Akanle; Barrister James Fabola; Chief Yomi Olorunsola, Chief Henry Omotosho and Hon. Sunday Moses, popularly known as Alumo, described the homecoming as an opportunity for the people to acknowledge Abejide’s legislative activities, engagements with constituents and contributions to the development of various communities.
Mrs Folashade Ariki Ayoade said that Rt Hon Leke Abejide have the backing of the state government under the leadership of Governor Usman Ododo, assured him that the people of Yagba Federal Constituency are also with him hence his reelection is a done deal.
The three Executive Chairmen of Yagba West, Yagba East and Mopamuro, who organised the event, said the massive turnout and solidarity displayed at the rally reflected widespread support for Abejide’s proposed third-term bid.
The crowd expressed their support through chants and solidarity messages as they welcomed the lawmaker back to his constituency.
Abejide, while addressing the gathering, thanked the people of Yagba for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to the development and wellbeing of the constituency.
He said his legislative engagement would continue to focus on issues affecting the people, while assuring constituents that he would remain accessible and responsive to their concerns.
Supporters who spoke at the event said they were encouraged by what they described as Abejide’s visibility and constituency engagement, noting that the reception demonstrated the level of support surrounding his bid to return to the House of Representatives.
The event marked the commencement of a fresh phase of political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections, with Abejide’s supporters calling for continued unity among the people of Yagba.
The organisers said the endorsement and massive turnout at the rally represented what they described as the position of the majority of electorates across Yagba Federal Constituency in support of Abejide’s bid for another term in the National Assembly.
