A renowned Philanthropist, Bayo Fatimehin Bags Lifetime Achievement Award
Mr. Bayo Fatimehin, a retired Director at Federal Civil Service and renowned Philanthropist, has made the list of those to receive Lifetime Achievement Award during the forthcoming EACDA Awards-Night.
This was disclosed by the EACDA National Publicity Secretary, Pastor Emmanuel Ajibola Ogungbuyi.
According to the statement, Mr. Bayo Fatimehin earned himself the award through his love for Ekinrin-Adde Community and his long-standing Philanthropic contributions to humanity.
The statement further noted that the Awardee has championed numerous initiatives within the community aimed at fostering unity, promoting development and uplifting the status of Ekinrin-Adde
Mr Adebayo Bamigbaiye Fatimehin was born on the 6th of December into the distinguished family of Chief Fatimehin Obamife of the Abudo Clan and Mrs Wuraola Ige Obamife of the Odo Oniun Clan in Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria.
He began his educational pursuit at Christ Apostolic Church Primary School, Moore, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he had his primary education between 1968 and 1973. Thereafter, he proceeded to Government Secondary School, Agbamu, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State for his secondary education, which he completed in 1982.
Driven by a strong desire for knowledge and self-development, he gained admission into the renowned Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin, now Kwara State Polytechnic, where he obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Banking and Finance in 1984.
Upon the completion of his studies, Mr Fatimehin moved to Lagos State in search of greener opportunities. He secured employment with Worldwide Agency, a company whose proprietor employed only Muslims irrespective of academic qualifications.
Following the advice of friends already working in the organisation, he adopted the Muslim name “Abdulazeez” and was subsequently employed. He worked diligently with the company for three years, demonstrating resilience, adaptability and determination in the face of challenges.
In 1989, he joined Union Bank of Nigeria Plc at the bank’s headquarters and, in the same year, was transferred to the Abuja Area Office. Shortly afterwards, he was redeployed to Union Bank, Offa Branch, Kwara State, which was then under the Abuja Area Office.
While still in active banking service, his passion for academic advancement led him to the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy. In 1998, destiny once again brought him back to Abuja as a Senior Officer of the bank. He served meritoriously at the Union Bank Main Branch, Area 3, Abuja, for six years.
In 2003, Mr Fatimehin joined the Federal Civil Service through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation with a commitment to contributing meaningfully to national development through accountability, policy implementation and responsible public financial management. His first posting was to the Federal Pay Office, Minna, Niger State.
After six months of dedicated service there, he was transferred to the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals in Abuja and subsequently posted to the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency, where he served diligently for fifteen years and rose to the enviable position of Chief Accountant.
In December 2019, he was transferred to the Federal Ministry of Justice and was later redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Finance, where he continued to distinguish himself through diligence, professionalism and integrity. Having served meritoriously in the Federal Civil Service, he rose to the position of Assistant Director before attaining retirement on the 6th of December, 2024.
Mr Adebayo Bamigbaiye Fatimehin is a seasoned professional and a member of several reputable professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), now known as Certified Chartered Accountants (CCA), the Institute of Cost Management Accountants (ICMA), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Nigeria (ICPA), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
A man of wide exposure and vast experience, he has attended numerous seminars, conferences and workshops within Nigeria, across Africa and in the United Kingdom.
Mr. Bayo Fatimehin has committed himself to the growth and development of Ekinrin-Adde Community. He served as the Treasurer of the Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA) from 2010 to 2014.
At a period when the Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA) was undergoing a phase of transition, particularly around the installation of the Olu-Adde, Mr. Adebayo Bamigbaiye Fatimehin joined other concerned sons and daughters of the community to chart a progressive path forward. This patriotic effort gave birth to the Friends of Olu-Adde, with Mr. Fatimehin unanimously chosen as the Coordinator.
Under his leadership, the group organised a grand and unprecedented reception for the Olu-Adde, a historic event that had never before been witnessed in the community. The same group, still under his coordination, also spearheaded activities during the coronation ceremony of the monarch, attracting sons and daughters of Ekinrin-Adde from across Nigeria and the diaspora, alongside numerous distinguished personalities from outside the community.
Notably, the Friends of Olu-Adde, under his coordination, initiated the construction of the Olu-Adde Palace project before it was later adopted by the EACDA. The palace project eventually received remarkable support through the efforts of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, which ultimately led to its successful development.
The Friends of Olu-Adde thereafter became a prominent and respected group within the community, enjoying the support and encouragement of elders and stakeholders in Ekinrin-Adde. In recognition of the impactful leadership and support given to the throne, the group, with the backing of community elders, presented a befitting jeep to the Olu-Adde in commemoration of his third year on the throne.
Following the successful integration of its objectives into the broader vision and aspirations of the community, the Friends of Olu-Adde subsequently transmitted its activities into the Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association.
A philanthropist with a large heart, Mr Fatimehin is widely known for his generosity and support for students and schools within the community. On several occasions, he has assisted indigent students and donated sporting equipment to schools in order to encourage and promote sporting activities among the youth.
Mr Adebayo Bamigbaiye Fatimehin is widely respected as a giver, a gentleman, a devoted family man, and a God-fearing individual whose life has been marked by service, humility, compassion, and commitment to humanity.
He is happily married to Mrs Feyishayo Hafsat Fatimehin, and the marriage is blessed with children. His hobbies include socialising, volleyball, and watching football.
