ADC Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Leaders Decrie Non-inclusion in taking critical decisions
The leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency have expressed their dissatisfaction with the way and manner the party is being run in the constituency, stressing that the idea of not consulting them before taking decisions is suicidal for the growth and progress of the party in the area.
This was disclosed in a letter signed by Hon. Alaga Olorundami and Hon. Deji Olumudi addressed the Kogi State Chairman of the party, describing the efforts of some people within the party to undermine their influence and authority.
They said it has become imperative for them to notify Hon Leke Abejide who is the National Leader of the party, pointing out that it will be a disservice on their part not to raise alarm.
They also said the purported endorsement done for the APC chairmanship candidate is nothing but a deliberate effort to destroy ADC in the area and is thereby declared null and void.
Details of the letter:
The State Chairman,
African Democratic Congress (ADC),
Lokoja State
Kogi State.
Dear Sir,
Subject: Protest on the Lack of Inclusion and Undermining of Leaders in Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu State Constituency
We are compelled to formally express our deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing marginalization and deliberate exclusion of key leaders and stakeholders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu State Constituency. The lack of inclusivity in decision-making and the undermining of the roles of long-standing leaders is unacceptable as it goes against the democratic principles our party upholds.
Recently, actions were taken within the party that starkly reflect this trend. A meeting was convened to address the decamping of our House of Representatives member to the APC. Key leaders of Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu, who should have been consulted, were deliberately sidelined. Decisions were made without our input, which does not only erode our influence but also undermines our leadership in the party. Furthermore, this same group of individuals organized another meeting where they unilaterally endorsed APC candidates in Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Local Governments. These decisions were made without consulting the recognized leadership, reflecting a flagrant disregard for the party’s democratic norms and structure. We hope you will investigate and take appropriate action to prevent any further use of our party as a bargaining chip, especially by people who do not have the due leadership oversight to do so.
As leaders of the ADC in Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu LGAs, we categorically declare that these decisions are null and void. They do not reflect the views or agreements of the ADC leadership and members. It is particularly disturbing that individuals with no standing in certain areas are organizing meetings and making endorsements that serve personal interests rather than the collective good of the party. This behavior must cease immediately, as it is detrimental to the integrity and unity of our party and should attract the strictest disciplinary measures.
The ADC’s strength lies in its inclusivity, transparency, and commitment to collective decision-making. These core values are being eroded by individuals seeking to monopolize the decision-making process, causing disunity within the party and eroding the confidence of our members. This situation, if allowed to continue, poses a significant threat to our electoral prospects, as it alienates key stakeholders and weakens our grassroots mobilization.
We call on the party’s leadership at the state and national levels to take urgent and decisive action. The long-standing leaders of Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu Constituency must be afforded the respect and recognition they have earned, and their voices must be included in all major party decisions. It is imperative that we return to a democratic process where every member, regardless of status, is valued and heard.
Failure to address these issues will not only fracture the party’s unity but also jeopardize our success in future elections. For the good of the ADC and our collective goals, we insist that these undemocratic practices be addressed, and the necessary corrections made to foster a more united, inclusive, and transparent leadership.
We trust that our concerns, and those of many loyal members, will be taken seriously and that prompt actions will be taken to restore confidence within the ADC in Kabba/Bunu and Ijumu.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the principles and ideals of the ADC and look forward to positive changes in the near future.
Yours faithfully,
Hon. Alaga Olorundami
