The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has conferred Honorary Doctorate Degrees on five distinguished Nigerians, including the former Governor of Kano State and Presidential Candidate of the NNPP, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
The prestigious award was presented during the university’s 5th Convocation Ceremony and Investiture of the Chancellor, held at the Convocation Arena on Saturday.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.
In his keynote address, the Visitor to the University and Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of ADUSTECH. He announced a series of strategic interventions to strengthen institutional capacity, including the approval of an additional 100 hectares of land to support the university’s expansion plans.
The governor revealed that priority will be given to enhancing physical infrastructure, building modern laboratories, lecture halls, student hostels, internal road networks, drainage systems, and provision of luxury buses to facilitate movement of students and faculty.
In a landmark gesture, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf immediately offered automatic employment to the Best Graduating Student, and foreign scholarships to nine outstanding graduates. Additionally, Africa’s foremost industrialist and the University’s Chancellor, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, offered automatic employment to all nine First-Class graduates.
The Governor congratulated the graduating students, encouraging them to see the convocation not as the end, but the beginning of their service to humanity. He paid glowing tribute to Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, lauding him as the visionary behind the establishment of the university in 2001 — a legacy that continues to serve Kano State and the nation at large.
Speaking at the event, Chancellor Alhaji Aliko Dangote reaffirmed his commitment to the university’s development. He announced a forthcoming N15 billion five-year development plan that includes the construction of modern student hostels, a state-of-the-art engineering laboratory, a world-class computer lab with uninterrupted internet access, a mini solar power plant, and a befitting Senate Building.
