Aiyetoro-Gbede community is not one of the beneficiaries of borehole projects – Mangal CLO, Hon. Dare Osawu, Says it is Agirigbon Ile – -Gbede that benefited

The Community Liaison Officer of the Mangal Cement company in Iluhagba, Hon. Dare Osawu has corrected the information credited to the GM of the company who said Aiyetoro -Gbede benefited from the CDA borehole projects, stressing that the GM being a new person in the area may not understand the differences between communities around the area.

According to him, it is Agirigbon Ile – Gbede that benefited from the borehole projects to address and support the community which has been suffering from acute shortage of potable water for a long time, pointing out that since there is Agirigbon quarters in Aiyetoro – Gbede they may not understand the difference.

He further stated that despite Agirigbon Ile is not being within the immediate catchment area was chosen to address the water shortage in the community, by the Gbede Traditional Council, who in their wisdom locate the project in the community to assist them.

Hon. Osawu said there are 6 boreholes that were documented in the CDA, Iluhagba community enjoyed fifty percent of it, while Odokoro got 1, Agirigbon Ile got 1 and Iyara, being the local government headquarters, got the last 1. He stressed that the geophysics survey for the Iyara project has been completed and any moment from now, the drilling and installation will be done for the people to start enjoying supply of water in the location.

He also noted that at no time was 5 slots of scholarships given to Aiyetoro – Gbede or mentioned in any report, adding that it is 10 scholarship slots that was captured in the CDA and in the wisdom of the leadership, 6 slots was given to Iluhagba being the immediate host community while the remaining 4 were shared among other Gbede communities.

He assured the communities involved that the company will implement all Community Development Agreements, pointing out that they started implementation of the CDA last quarter of 2024, immediately production started.

He admonished the people to support the young company to grow, stressing that there are many benefits that will come the way of all the communities within and outside the catchment area.
