Akpabio, Barau, Lalong, other Top Senators Bid Farewell to Prof. Jenet Plang

A somber and mournful atmosphere filled the Church of Christ in Nations Headquarters in Jos as Senators Godswill Akpabio, Simon Lalong, and other top-ranking Senators paid their last respects to the wife of Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau Central. The funeral service was held on Friday.
Leading a powerful delegation from the 10th Senate, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, alongside his Deputy, Jibrin Barau, and other Senators, including Simon Lalong, Aminu Tambuwal, Ali Ndume, Adams Oshiomole, and Tahir Mangunu, among others, attended the service.
Akpabio eulogized late Mrs. Plang as a pillar of humility and a good companion to her husband.
On the issue of security, the Senate President decried the incessant attacks on Plateau State, vowing that the voices of the people would be heard in the Senate chambers.
He prayed that her death would bring peace to the state, saying, “Let the death of Professor Plang bring peace to Plateau State.”
The wife of the President, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, through the wife of the Chief of Staff to the President, expressed her grief over the demise of the proactive and experienced academician, praying for the repose of her soul.
The Leader of the Wives of Senators, Mrs. Ekaete Akpabio, flanked by other members, described late Prof. Plang as a very focused and dedicated personality who would be forever missed.
She highlighted Prof. Plang’s commitment to education, noting that she had identified and supported 15 indigent students at the University of Abuja.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang described Late Jenet as a true Plateau daughter, consoling her husband and the entire bereaved family.
In his homily, Rev. Dr. David Pofi, Chaplain of the National Institute of Strategic Studies (NIPSS), highlighted the need for leaders to address poverty and improve healthcare facilities in the country.
The funeral rites were performed by the Chairman of the Regional Church Council, Jos, and the remains of the deceased were finally interred in Takas, Pankshin Local Government Area.
