PEPSA Seals Two Fuelling Stations in Jos
By Azi Peter – Jos
In a bid to sanitize and maintain cleanliness in the state, particularly in Jos and Bukuru Metropolis, the Plateau State Environmental and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) has cracked down on defaulters and violators of sanitation laws.
Two fuelling stations, Kaisan Oil and Gas and Infinite, along British America to Lamingo Road, were sealed for operating outside designated hours.
The enforcement team, led by PEPSA’s General Manager, Samuel Dayia, and comprising directors, magistrates, security personnel, journalists, and other government officials, discovered that the stations were dispensing fuel at 7:45 am, in contravention of movement restrictions.
The stations were immediately sealed, and the magistrates fined them N200 each. After paying the fines, the stations were reopened.
Other individuals who defied the laws were also apprehended, tried by mobile courts, and fined or sentenced to public service.
The team visited various areas, including Terminus, West of Mines, Jenta, and Tudun Wada, and arrested traders, Keke NAPEP operators, and motorists who were fined accordingly.
The General Manager reiterated PEPSA’s commitment to ensuring a clean and safe environment, aligning with Governor Mutfwang’s “Time is Now” mantra.
He appreciated the media for their support and urged citizens to maintain clean environments, especially in flood-prone areas.
The exercise was deemed peaceful and successful.
