Alleged PDP Campaign Poster: Hon. Lawal Disowns Image, Urges Gov. Ododo to Ignore Allegations
A former member of the House of Representatives for Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, Hon. Lawal, has distanced himself from a campaign poster circulating online which allegedly links him to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the material as a deliberate fabrication aimed at misleading the public.
The controversial poster, which surfaced on social media and was referenced in a report by Kogi Reports, allegedly suggests that the former lawmaker has aligned with the PDP ahead of future political contests.
However, the media team of the ex-lawmaker have strongly rejected the claim, insisting that the poster did not originate from him or any member of his political structure.
According to the former legislator’s media team, the image appears to have been manipulated by “mischief makers seeking to create unnecessary political tension” within Ajaokuta Local Government Area and the wider political space in Kogi State.
They maintained that Hon. Lawal has not authorized any campaign material suggesting alignment with the PDP and warned members of the public against spreading unverified political propaganda.
The development followed a call by a group identifying itself as the Ajaokuta APC Youth Forum, which reportedly urged the state governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, to investigate the alleged political alignment.
Responding to the call, the media team of the former lawmaker described the allegation as baseless and urged the governor to disregard what they termed a politically motivated distraction.
”The circulation of doctored posters has become a common tactic in the digital age, often used to frame political opponents or create confusion within party structures – this is not different from such plots”.
They cautioned against escalating political tensions over unverified materials, stressing the need for stakeholders to prioritize issue-based engagement rather than speculative allegations.
They however reiterated that the former federal lawmaker remains committed to constructive political engagement and the development of his constituency, urging the public to ignore the poster and treat it as a fabrication intended to mislead the public.
End.
