The National President of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN), Dr. Muhammad Tahir, has reiterated the Union’s willingness to pay government revenue from both loading and uploading points. However, he strongly emphasized that any revenue charges imposed along federal roads are considered illegal by the Union.
Dr. Tahir commended the Federal Government for its efforts to rehabilitate federal roads, acknowledging the progress being made in enhancing road infrastructure across the country. Nevertheless, he expressed his concerns about the deteriorating condition of the road from Kano to Abuja, as well as other roads linking the northern and southern parts of Nigeria. He described these roads as critical to the smooth operation of businesses and trade across the country, underscoring the need for urgent attention.
In his statement, Dr. Tahir called on the Kano State Government to collaborate with the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria in the collection of revenue. He reiterated that the Union is fully committed to paying the revenue stipulated in the official revenue gazette and is willing to cooperate with the state authorities to ensure that payments are made in accordance with the law.
Dr. Tahir also urged all Union members to remain law-abiding and uphold the highest standards of conduct as they engage in the payment of the relevant government revenue. He emphasized that the Union is eager to work closely with the Kano State Internal Revenue Board and is committed to transparency in all transactions.
Looking ahead, Dr. Tahir announced that the leadership of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria would soon visit Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, to discuss the modalities for paying the Union’s revenue. He reassured all parties that efforts would be made to ensure that all revenue generated would go directly to the Kano State Government.
The Union remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the development of the country through legal means while promoting the welfare of its members and the broader Nigerian economy.
