The Kogi State Correspondent of Arise News, Odimayo Olatunde Fredrick, has been appointed the Caretaker Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kogi State Chapter.
His appointment, dated November 13, 2025, was conveyed in a letter signed by the SWAN General Secretary, Ikenna Okonkwo.
Also appointed was Bashiru Opaluwa, who will serve as the Caretaker Secretary of the association in the state.
According to the appointment letter, the decision followed the expiration of the tenure of the previous State Executive Committee and was made in accordance with SWAN’s statutory provisions.

“You have been appointed to lead a three-man caretaker committee, with Mr. Bashiru Opaluwa serving as Secretary. The committee is expected to pilot the affairs of the chapter for three months and conduct elections for a new executive committee within this period.”
The national leadership also directed the former executives to hand over all association properties to the newly constituted caretaker team.
It added: “As Chairman, you are expected to bring your wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of your duties. Congratulations, as the SWAN President assures you of his best regards, always.”
