Ayere Arimah Ward Cracks Down: Hon. Hammed Obaditan Suspended by APC Over Alleged Assault and Misconduct
A major political development has unfolded within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, as the Ayere Arimah Ward Executive Committee announced the suspension of Hon. Hammed Obaditan over allegations of gross misconduct and violent behavior.
The decision, reached unanimously at an emergency ward executive meeting held on May 1, 2026, signals a firm stance by party leaders against actions perceived to undermine discipline and unity within the party’s grassroots structure.
According to a formal suspension letter issued by the ward executives, the action was taken pursuant to Article 21(A)(i), (v), and (xi) of the APC Constitution (2022 as amended). The committee accused Obaditan of conduct “unbecoming of a party member and public office holder,” warning that such behavior risks bringing the party into public ridicule and disrepute.
At the heart of the controversy is an alleged incident that occurred on April 29, 2026, during a stakeholders’ meeting of the APC Western Senatorial District at the Glass House in Lokoja. Hon. Obaditan is accused of physically assaulting the Ward Chairman, Hon. Adewole Oluwasegun Simon, alongside Hon. Isah Oludoun, a Permanent Member II of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission.
Party officials further alleged that the embattled lawmaker engaged in disorderly and violent conduct during the official event—actions described as a direct violation of party rules and disciplinary codes.
A source within the ward executive disclosed that the committee conducted a thorough review of the incident before arriving at its decision. “The suspension became necessary to uphold discipline, maintain order, and protect the integrity of the party at the grassroots level,” the source said.
The committee further described the alleged actions as a brazen affront to the authority of the party and a direct threat to the peace and unity of the APC in Ayere Arimah Ward, Ijumu Local Government Area, as well as the wider Kogi West Senatorial District.
As part of the terms of suspension, Hon. Obaditan is barred from participating in all party activities at the ward, local government, state, and national levels with immediate effect. He is also prohibited from representing, speaking for, or acting on behalf of the APC in any capacity throughout the duration of the suspension.
As of press time, Hon. Obaditan has yet to issue any public response to the allegations or the disciplinary action taken against him.
The development underscores growing concerns over internal cohesion within party ranks, particularly at the ward level, as political stakeholders intensify efforts to enforce discipline and safeguard the party’s public image ahead of future electoral engagements in the state.
