A Governor Defined by Results

Senator Amori extolled Governor Oborevwori’s leadership qualities, describing him as a grassroots-oriented leader whose tenure has redefined governance in Delta State. He noted that Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda—which emphasizes Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—has yielded transformative results across all sectors of the state’s economy.

“This award is a clear indication that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership has brought tangible development to Delta State. From roads to healthcare, from agriculture to education, his administration has been purposeful, people-centered, and results-driven,” Amori stated.

Unprecedented Achievements Under the MORE Agenda.

Senator Amori enumerated some of Governor Oborevwori’s key achievements, which he said have positioned Delta State as a benchmark for governance in Nigeria:

Massive Infrastructural Development: The governor has overseen the construction and rehabilitation of over 500 kilometers of roads, bridges, and drainage systems across the state, including urban roads in Warri, Effurun, and Asaba, as well as rural roads to connect hard-to-reach communities.

Job and Wealth Creation:
Through targeted empowerment programs, such as the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Program (YAGEP) Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Program (STEP), the Delta Cares empowerment Program, thousands of youths have been equipped with skills and resources to become self-reliant.

Educational Transformation:
Governor Oborevwori has prioritized education by upgrading schools, introducing free education at the primary and secondary levels, and awarding scholarships to indigent students. The refurbishment of technical colleges across the state has further bridged the gap between education and employment.

Health Sector Reforms: The administration has revamped primary healthcare centers and general hospitals, ensuring that quality healthcare services are accessible to all. The Delta State Health Insurance Scheme (DSHIS) has also been expanded, benefitting over 1.5 million people.

Enhanced Peace and Security: The governor’s inclusive governance style and partnership with security agencies and traditional rulers have fostered peace and stability across the state, enabling economic growth and attracting investors.

The People’s Governor
Describing Governor Oborevwori as a “people’s governor,” Senator Amori emphasized that his grassroots engagement and open-door policy have made him a leader beloved by all.

“Governor Oborevwori’s humility, accessibility, and unwavering focus on the needs of the common man have set him apart as a leader who genuinely cares for his people. His ability to listen, engage, and deliver solutions is unmatched,” Amori said.

A Well-Deserved Recognition
Senator Amori further stated that “This Day Newspaper / Arise TV Network Best Governor of the Year Award” is a collective pride for Delta State, as itiii recognizes the progress made under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership.

“This award is not just for Governor Oborevwori but for every Deltan who has supported his vision for a prosperous and united Delta State. It is a validation of his commitment to improving lives and delivering on his campaign promises,” Amori added.
