Beyond Certificates: PTI I is Producing Industry-Ready Professionals Says MGVOWGAS
The Petroleum Training Institute, PTI, Effurun, has received an emphatic industry endorsement after eight of its graduates were absorbed into the permanent workforce of MGVOWGAS Limited following a successful one-year Graduate Trainee Programme.
The development has been described as a strong demonstration that the Institute’s mandate goes beyond the production of graduates with academic qualifications to the development of competent, disciplined and industry-ready professionals.
MGVOWGAS conveyed the commendation in a formal letter dated May 19, 2026, addressed to the Registrar of PTI, with attention to Dr. (Mrs.) Tina O. Isichei.
The company recalled that it had approached PTI in August 2024 for suitable graduates to participate in its Graduate Trainee Programme.
PTI subsequently recommended eight graduates: Jeghwo David Oghenebrohien, Enubuzor Chinedu John, Ochei Johnson Onyedikachi, Ugochukwu Makua Divine, Ibibo Kombo Bernard, Edokpolor Osa-Osenimwen Moses, Ikechukwu Faith Adaugo and Harry Faith Sokiepirim.
After completing the one-year programme, all eight were confirmed as full-time staff.
For MGVOWGAS, the confirmation was not merely an employment decision but a recognition of the quality of manpower delivered by PTI.
The company said the graduates demonstrated strong technical knowledge and intellectual capacity throughout their period of engagement.
More significantly, they displayed the personal and professional qualities that employers require in a modern workforce.
Their performance was characterised by resilience, professionalism, integrity, discipline, adaptability and admirable character.
The company said these qualities, combined with their technical competence, provided clear evidence of the quality of education, values and institutional grooming provided by PTI.
The commendation comes at a time when the debate over employability of graduates increasingly focuses on the gap between academic qualifications and workplace competence.
The experience of the eight graduates presents a different narrative: that specialised technical education, when effectively connected to industry, can produce young professionals who are capable of moving from training to productive employment.
MGVOWGAS specifically praised PTI for producing well-rounded professionals equipped with the character, mindset and competence needed to thrive in demanding work environments.
The company described the Institute’s role as a meaningful investment in Nigeria’s future workforce, industry professionals and leaders.
The commendation therefore carries significance beyond the individual graduates.
It strengthens the case for closer partnerships between Nigerian educational institutions and private-sector organisations, particularly in sectors where practical competence, technical knowledge and professional discipline are indispensable.
Such partnerships can provide employers with access to trained manpower while giving graduates the opportunity to test their classroom knowledge against real industrial challenges.
MGVOWGAS expressed sincere appreciation to PTI for its commitment to excellence and capacity development, while indicating its willingness to sustain and strengthen the relationship between the two organisations.
The successful outcome of the graduate trainee programme ultimately presents a compelling model for transforming education into employment: train effectively, expose graduates to practical challenges, assess their performance and create pathways for deserving professionals to remain in the workforce.
For PTI, the commendation is a powerful affirmation of its continuing contribution to Nigeria’s technical manpower development.
For the eight graduates, it is the reward of a successful transition from the classroom into professional life.
And for Nigeria, it is another reminder that institutions committed to excellence can play a decisive role in building the skilled workforce required to drive sustainable industry.
