COCIN LCC 1 NUKPIS HOLDS MAIDEN STUDENTS’ RENDITION AND FAREWELL SERVICE
By Peter Azi – Jos
It was a moment of joy, celebration, and funfair at the Church of Christ In Nations, Local Church Council 1, Nukpis, under the Regional Church Council, Jos Jarawa, as the church held its maiden Students’ Rendition and Farewell Service.
The service was organized to honor graduating students from the College of Medicine, University of Jos, and National Youth Service Corps members who were part of the church during their studies and service year, and who have now completed their academic programs and national assignments respectively.
The graduands included newly qualified Medical Doctors, Medical Laboratory Scientists, and Corps Members who served at JUTH and other places.
In his homily, the Leading Pastor of the Church, Rev. Kephas Gumap, took his text from Romans 8:7, Galatians 5:17, and Jeremiah 29:11.
Speaking on the topic: “The Flesh is the Inward Enemy of Man,” he charged the congregation to shun all negative behaviors that would profane the name of the Lord.
“The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Spirit and sin are contrary to each other. Therefore, believers should flee from it,” he said.
The cleric further charged the graduating students to be ambassadors of Christ as they move to the next stages of their lives, assuring them that Christ Jesus would guide them.
“God’s agenda for your lives will continue to manifest. Do not allow your body to become your enemy, because God has good plans for you all,” he added.
Parents, friends, and associates of the students graced the service.
There was also a special song rendition by the graduands.
Highlights of the programme included the presentation of certificates, cutting of cake, and the presentation of gifts from church groups and individuals.
