COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE SECOND NATIONAL GENERAL MEETING OF PROGRESSIVE AMALGAMATION OF NORTHERN NIGERIA TINUBU/SHETIMA (PANNTS) HELD AT AREWA HOUSE KADUNA ON 10TH FEBRUARY, 2024.
The meeting had the following objectives among others:
- Uniting for transformation.
- Encapsulating the essence of collective vision for prosperous, inclusive and developed Northern Nigeria.
- Reaffirming the commitment to bridging the divides.
- Consolidating our strengths and working together towards achieving sustainable progress in every facet of the society.
After exhaustive discussions and extensive deliberations on the state of affairs in Northern Nigeria, the meeting rose with the following as its resolutions:
- Federal and State Governments should redouble effort to cushion the effect of high standard of living
- Government at all levels should intensify efforts in solving the problem of insecurity which is the most critical factor undermining development in Northern Nigeria.
- The meeting agreed to embark on tour to 19 Northern States on dates to be announced later.
- The meeting also agreed to honor some prominent personalities in Northern Nigeria who have distinguished themselves in business, politics, education and religion with awards for their contributions to socio economic development of the region.
- The meeting reconsidered its leadership structure and called on officers with double positions/portfolios to forgo one.
- The meeting noted that leadership structures in some states like Jigawa and Kano were not balanced and called for restructuring.
- The meeting noted that some officers were found wanting and relieved them of their positions.
- The meeting agreed that the name, ‘Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria Tinubu/Shetima PANNTS’, should be changed to ‘Progressive Amalgamation of Northern Nigeria PANN’
- The meeting appointed Comrade Tor Terna as its National Media Director.
CONCLUSION
Participants were unanimous in commenting the Director General and other stakeholders for organizing this meeting. However, they urged the stakeholders and government to ensure that the recommendations made here are implemented. The communiqué was adopted through a motion moved by Hon. Garba Mohammed Kano-North West Zonal Coordinator and seconded by Hon. Amina Musa-Kaduna State Woman Leader.
