By Wilson Macaulay
In a strong endorsement of continuity and strategic leadership in the Niger Delta, Comrade Mike J.K. Tiemo, President of the Peace Development, Security and Humanitarian Rights Association of Niger Deltans, has extended warm congratulations to High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpomupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, following the renewal of the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. He described the development as a bold step toward sustaining peace, protecting critical national assets, and promoting employment and empowerment of indigenous capacity in the region.
Comrade Tiemo, in a statement made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State, also expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a “gracious and well-calculated decision” to renew the contract. According to him, the President’s action demonstrates not only confidence in Tompolo’s leadership but also a deep commitment to stabilizing the oil-rich Niger Delta through inclusive and result-driven security frameworks.
Highlighting the impact of Tantita Security Services, Comrade Tiemo noted that the firm has significantly reduced pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and environmental degradation across the region. He emphasized that the success recorded under Tompolo’s leadership has translated into increased national revenue, improved local security, and enhanced community engagement, thereby reinforcing the importance of maintaining the existing structure.
The Niger Delta humanitarian advocate further stressed that the contract renewal would boost the morale of youths in the region, many of whom have found meaningful employment and renewed purpose through Tantita’s operations. He urged stakeholders, community leaders, and youths to continue supporting the initiative, noting that sustained collaboration remains key to consolidating the gains already achieved.
Comrade Tiemo reaffirmed his association’s commitment to peace, development, and the protection of human rights across the Niger Delta. He called on all well-meaning Nigerians to rally behind the Federal Government’s efforts in the collective pursuit of national growth and regional stability. He cautioned against selfish criticisms capable of undermining the initiative, describing the contract renewal as a welcome development that addresses longstanding issues of marginalization in the Niger Delta. He further noted that Tantita operates without segregation or discrimination, describing Tompolo as a philanthropist par excellence, and urged well-placed Niger Delta indigenes to emulate his example by prioritizing regional and national development over undue criticism.
