KOGI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE
CP NAZIRU BELLO KANKAROFI, psc, mni, EXTENDS NEW YEAR GREETINGS TO THE PEOPLE OF KOGI STATE, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SAFETY AND SECURITY
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, has extended warm New Year greetings and best wishes to the good people of Kogi State as they usher in the New Year, praying for peace, progress, and prosperity for individuals, families, and communities across the State.
The Commissioner of Police described the New Year as a period of renewed hope, unity, and collective responsibility, and assured residents that the Command remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property throughout the State. He emphasized that ensuring a safe and secure environment for all remains a top priority of the Command.
Since assuming office as the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi has continued to stress the importance of proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and strong collaboration with communities as essential tools for sustaining peace and public safety. He noted that security is a shared responsibility and called on citizens to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of law enforcement efforts.
The CP commended the government and people of Kogi State for their unwavering support and collaboration in 2025. Our joint efforts yielded remarkable results in November-December 2025 as follows:
– Arrested 82 suspects involved in various crimes comprising 42 kidnappers, 22 Armed Robbers, 9 Homicide, 5 for unlawful possession of firearms, 4 Rape
– Rescued 102 victims of kidnapping and other crimes
– Foiled criminal plots, preventing untold harm to our communities
– Boosted community trust through proactive engagement and outreach
– Arms recovered include 3 AK47 Rifles, 1 AK49 Rifle, 22 Dane Guns, 3 locally made pistols, 5 Rounds of live ammunition, and cartridges.
The CP commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for his exemplary leadership style in moving the Nigeria Police Force forward. He noted that the IGP’s commitment to enhanced policing through community policing initiatives has been tremendous in the ongoing onslaught against criminality in the State.
The CP further expressed his appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support and encouragement to the command. He stressed that His Excellency’s unwavering commitment and support have been tremendous, leading to the current achievements recorded by the command. He urged for continuous support to the Police to sustain the ongoing fight against criminality in the State.
The CP also thanked the heads of other Security Agencies in the State for the level of synergy and support leading to the results the command has achieved. He urged for sustained synergy and collaboration in the year 2026.
He also commended the officers of the command for their dedication and commitment with utmost professionalism, which made the command achieve these results.
As we step into 2026, the CP urges everyone to remain vigilant and security conscious. Report anything suspicious to the nearest police station. Together, let’s make Kogi State the safest in Nigeria! Your continued support is crucial to our success.
The Commissioner further urged parents, guardians, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to continue to play active roles in promoting peaceful coexistence and discouraging all forms of criminality, especially during the New Year period.
CP Kankarofi reassured the public that the Kogi State Police Command remains steadfast in upholding professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights, while continuously strengthening strategies to address emerging security challenges and ensure a peaceful New Year for all residents.
The Kogi State Police Command appreciates the continued cooperation and support of the people of Kogi State and wishes all residents a safe, peaceful, and prosperous New Year.
