David & Chioma: The Myth of “Calm Down” Relationships
The phrase “na who calm down we go marry”has been trending on social media since Davido released his pre-wedding pictures, and it’s got me thinking. The idea that someone will “calm down” and accept our flaws is entertaining, but let’s be realistic – it’s not always that simple.
Davido’s relationship with Chioma has sparked excitement, consternation, and confusion. To some, it’s a “calm down”relationship despite Davido’s cheating history, whilst others see it as a compromise. However, let’s not forget that Chioma has the comfort of Davido’s wealth to console her, which has been her enduring motivation. Meanwhile, many of us are still working on getting our lives together, let alone finding someone to accept us for who we are.
The truth is, relationships that transcend to marriage require effort, commitment, and compromise from both parties, as demonstrated by Davido and Chioma. It’s not just about finding someone who will “calm down” and tolerate imperfections; it’s about finding someone willing to grow and evolve with us.
So, to those thinking someone will “calm down” and settle for them, take a closer look at your life. Are you prioritizing your physical, mental, and emotional health? Are you working on your flaws and imperfections? If not, focus on self-improvement and career growth before expecting someone to accept you for who you are.
The idea of a “calm down” relationship is a myth. Relationships require effort, compromise, and a willingness to grow and evolve together.
On this note, I congratulate Davido and Chioma on their mutual resolve to matrimony.
