The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Minister of the Year’ Award by Democracy Newsline Newspaper in recognition of his outstanding performance and reforms in the interior sector.
The award was presented to the Minister during the 16th Anniversary Ceremony of Democracy Newsline Newspaper held in Abuja. The media organisation cited Dr. Tunji-Ojo’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and improved service delivery across agencies under the Ministry of Interior.

In his acceptance speech delivered by the Deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Adogeri Beloved, the Minister expressed gratitude to the organisers for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and motivating.
“I dedicate this honour to the gallant officers and men of the Ministry of Interior and its agencies. This award belongs to them. Their sacrifice, dedication, and professionalism are what have made the reforms we are undertaking possible,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated.
He noted that the recognition would further spur the ministry to deepen ongoing reforms in immigration, correctional services, civil defence, and fire service, aimed at enhancing national security and public safety.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo commended Democracy Newsline Newspaper for its commitment to credible journalism and for consistently spotlighting individuals and institutions driving democratic values and good governance in Nigeria.
The organisers said the ‘Minister of the Year’ Award was in appreciation of the Minister’s bold initiatives, including technology-driven passport reforms, prison decongestion efforts, and improved welfare for personnel.
