The board and Management of Democracy Newsline Newspaper have honoured Professor Natufe Igho, President-General of the Okpe Development Union Worldwide, with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at its 16th Anniversary Ceremony held in Abuja.

Prof. Igho was recognised for his distinguished contributions to community development, academic excellence, and leadership in Delta State and beyond. The award celebrates his decades of selfless service, advocacy for the Okpe nation, and commitment to unity, peace, and progress.
In his acceptance speech delivered by Mrs. Ross Atarhe, the Okpe leader expressed gratitude to Democracy Newsline for the honour, describing it as a call to do more for his people and humanity.
“I dedicate this award to the entire Okpe nation at home and in the diaspora. This recognition is not about me alone, but about our collective efforts to build a stronger, more united, and progressive community,” Prof. Igho stated.
He commended Democracy Newsline Newspaper for its role in promoting credible journalism, democratic values, and for consistently spotlighting individuals who have made impact in society.
The organisers said the Lifetime Achievement Award was in recognition of Prof. Igho’s outstanding leadership of the Okpe Development Union Worldwide, his scholarly contributions, and his unwavering commitment to the development of Delta State and Nigeria.
Other recipients of award include Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr Austin Orette, ADC Candidate, Delta South Senatorial District, Chief Dr Habibat Tajjani, Accountant General of Kogi state and Senator Sunday Karimi etc
