Ebonyi Partners with NEW Foundation to end Gender-Based Violence

The Ebonyi state government yesterday pledged to partner with Neighborhood Environmental Watch (NEW) Foundation in eradicating gender based violence across the 13 local government areas of the state.
The state commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Felicia Nwamkpuma gave this assurance when she received members of NEW Foundation at her office in Abakaliki the state capital.
Nwamkpuma further added that the state would join hands with NEW Foundation’s male feminists to actively engage men as allies in the fight against Gender Based Violence.
According to her, “I want to assure you and your partners that Ebonyi state ministry of women affairs and Development team would work to back up NEW Foundation at any time support is required.
“This is because your agenda are in tune with the manifesto of the our state governor” People’s Charter of Needs” targeted at promoting the welfare, protection, and empowerment of women and eradicating gender based violence in the state.
“To advance this course, I wish to expressed strong appreciation for the approach adopted by NEW Foundation, particularly the inclusion of men in addressing gender-based violence.
“And on this note, the ministry pledge unalloyed support for the Male Feminists Network project and affirmed we would always stand with NEW Foundation to fight that course,”she said.
Speaking earlier, the founder/ executive director of organization, Dr. Okezie said the male feminists network is charged with the responsibilities of advocating for gender equality and the prevention of violence in communities.
“And our visit today is aimed at stepping up more stronger partnerships between NEW Foundation and government institutions towards driving and achieving lasting social change and ensure safer communities for women, girls, and all vulnerable persons,”he stated.
