Edo-Delta Catholics Holds Saint Patrick’s Feast Day In Grand Style

The Saint Patrick’s feast Day celebration was marked in grand style by the Saint Patrick Edo-Delta Catholics Community of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Maitama on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
The event, held in Abuja, brought together a large gathering of faithful from various parishes across the archdiocese. It was a vibrant celebration honoring the virtues of Saint Patrick, a revered figure in the global Roman Catholic community.
The ceremony featured a rich blend of spiritual reflection and cultural expression, including traditional Edo-Delta displays, thanksgiving, fundraising activities, and lively merrymaking.
Among the distinguished guests were prominent political and community leaders, including Monday Okpebholo, Sheriff Oborevwori, Francis Alimikhena, and Mike Ogiadomhe, alongside other notable sons and daughters of the Edo-Delta Catholic community in the Federal Capital Territory.
The feast day celebration reinforced faith and unity among members while showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Edo-Delta people within the Catholic tradition.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the St. Patrick’s Edo-Delta Catholics Community, Holy Trinity Maitama, Abuja, John Odara, described the event as a demonstration of their collective legacy and love of faith, courage, humility, and selfless service values that have inspired millions around the globe. He noted that the occasion also served as a reminder of hope, patience, and resilience in a world characterized by trials and uncertainty.
While extolling the virtues of Saint Patrick—whose life, he said, epitomized courage in the face of adversity, humility, and dedication to evangelization across nations Odaro urged Catholics to emulate these qualities in their daily lives and ministry.
He commended the clergy, dignitaries, and community leaders for their presence, noting that their support would strengthen bonds and inspire continued commitment within the community.
“To our clergy, dignitaries, and community leaders, your presence here today strengthens our bonds and inspires our mission. We are grateful for your unwavering support and encouragement,” he said.
Odaro also expressed delight at the multidimensional growth of the Edo-Delta community at Holy Trinity Parish, highlighting the increasing commitment and participation of members.
“New members are joining us, driven by a shared vision to uplift, empower, and strengthen one another. Our subcommittees focus on spiritual growth, well-being, and the promotion of members’ businesses, reflecting our commitment to building a vibrant, supportive, and inspiring community.”
The event also featured goodwill messages from dignitaries, donations, and the ceremonial cutting of the Saint Patrick’s feast cake.
