Eight Years of Good Governance, Youth, Women Inclusiveness in Politics – Ali Bello Bares it All.

By Charity Ijese.

Reflecting on what many has described as the most fulfilling and inclusive governance in the history of Kogi State, Ali Bello, a man that distinguished himself for exceptional leadership roles since the inception of the New Direction Government, which birthed a modern Kogi that we all could be proud of, said he was not amazed at the level of successes recorded so far by the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.

“I will only be surprised if His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello (CON) was not able to bring to manifestation his many good dreams for our dear State. Before he became Governor, he has long been prepared for all these tasks. So, I am not surprised, but rather fulfilled” Ali Bello said while interacting with journalist in Lokoja on Monday.

The philanthropist stated that Kogi State before Gov. Yahaya Bello came onboard was overshadowed by irregularities both in governance and attitudes of indigenes in terms of patriotism. To change the narrative, first it was youths involvement in governance. This saw the appointments of young individuals into the state cabinet, MDAs, and Agencies. This act echoed in all conners of the country; as other State’s Governors were seen following the footsteps of the Country’s youngest Governor.

He said someone who is familiar with Nigerian Politics, and particularly Northern Nigerian Politics, would understand how almost impossible it could be to involve women in active governance due to stigmatization and religious beliefs, stressing that Alhaji Yahaya Bello broke this jinx in Kogi State through the appointment of the first female Secretary to the State Government, first female Chief Press Secretary, amongst other juicy positions which left tongues wagging, eyebrows raised but the state progressed significantly nevertheless.

Recall that while all these were ongoing, pondits identified a young man who since January 2016, has dedicated his time, life, energy, and resources behind the scenes making significant impacts and jaw dropping contributions to the New Direction Government.

Described as an unsung hero whose name was only heard in whispers. A man who has been working round-the-clock with the galant team of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to ensure that the New Direction Government succeeded. A man who played a major role in the just concluded state’s gubernatorial election. The people’s man, Ali Bello.

“Reacting to the incoming administration, Ali Bello used the opportunity to shower encomiums on Governor Yahaya Bello for his excellent choice of a successor, adding that he is confident in the capability of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman to continue with the transformation agenda of the outgoing administration.

He further appealed with Kogites in general to work harmoniously with the incoming administration, and extend the hands of love shown to Governor Yahaya Bello over the years, to Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman; as he will be in need of cooperation as citizens to deliver on his progress oriented manifestos.
