Farmer Governor Umaru Bago Approves Six Months Maternity Leave for Civil Servants, inaugurates Food Systems Transformation Committee
Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has approved a six-month maternity leave policy for civil servants in the state. The approval was given during the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Minna.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim on his Facebook page
He said the policy aims to provide women with ample time to care for themselves and their newborns, promoting maternal and child health.
According to him, the Governor believes the extended leave will enable women to become more productive when they resume work.
He noted that the Head of Service, Abubakar Sadiq Idris, has been directed to work out the modalities for implementing the policy.
“The policy aligns with international best practices and is part of the Governor’s efforts to protect maternal and child health in Niger State.
“By providing extended maternity leave, the government aims to support the well-being of women and their children, promoting a healthier and more productive workforce.
In another related development, the Farmer Governor Mohammed Bago has inaugurated the Food Systems Transformation Committee to implement pathways for transforming the state’s food systems.
The committee’s goal is to develop a comprehensive strategy to improve agricultural productivity and ensure a sustainable food supply for the state’s residents.
