FOSLA Academy Karshi Abuja Creates Opportunities For Upcoming Generation In Sports – Lulu
The former President of Nigeria Football Federation,(NFF) Alhaji Sani Lulu, Abdullahi has reiterated the determination and commitment of his football academy, FOSLA Academy, located in Karshi, Abuja, FCT, to create opportunities for the upcoming generation in the game.
In a telephone chat with our correspondent, he disclosed 80% of the students in the Academy are on scholarship – a feat that is unprecedented in the history of sports in Nigeria.
Lulu emphasized sports is one of the sectors that can be used to create employment opportunities and robust wealth creation for young people in the society.
He established the academy in 2010 to give “skilful and talented interested pupils the opportunity to develop and hone their skills in the game of soccer with the view to seamlessly combining it with academics – a feat that is vigorously and religiously pursued with excellence.” He concluded.
The Head of Finance and Administration (HFA) Madam Ayeh Justina confirmed the academy is doing very well with most of the students constantly passing their JAMB exams with scores always within the region of 300 +, ditto WAEC and NECO examinations.
She noted most of the students are “on scholarships courtesy of the founder, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi and appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to support the good work being done in the academy as FOSLA is the only football Academy that is effectively combining sports with academics.” She concluded.
The Assistant Team Leader, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, highlighted the academy’s achievements, including, being the overall best in the National Secondary School Sports Federation(NSSF) competition in 2021, and the girls’ team winning Hergame competition in 2024 – first FCT female football league.
He also mentioned the academy’s students that have represented Nigeria in international competitions, with some securing spots in foreign leagues.
Some of the notable achievements of the academy’s students include:
– Queen Joseph’s impressive performance at the recently concluded African U17 world cup qualifying matches where her goals contributed in securing a world cup ticket for Nigeria.
– Benjamin Mohammed currently playing in the Azerbaijani Difai club – Division One
– Onuche Ogbelu plying bi’s trade with Esperance of Tunisia. And he shone like a million stars in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.
– Abdulrasheed Sani participating in the under-15 FIFA Development Scheme
– Patricia Habila represented Nigeria in the Sheller competition in China, 2024 where the team finished third.
In all,, FOSLA Academy has demonstrated a commitment to developing young talents in football and academics, and its achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of its management, staff students.
