Group Faults Alleged No Confidence Vote Against Karimi
By Stanley Ajileye
The Kogi West for Tinubu and Karimi Reelection Project (KW, TAKREP) has faulted the purported vote of no confidence reportedly passed on Sunday Karimi by some ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, describing the move as a calculated attempt to smear the image of the senator.
In a statement made available to journalists, the group said the communiqué circulating in the media was politically motivated and allegedly sponsored by individuals it described as “desperate political merchants” uncomfortable with the rising support Senator Karimi has continued to attract across Kogi West Senatorial District.
According to the group, the development does not reflect the genuine position of party members in the district, insisting that the senator enjoys widespread acceptance among APC faithful and constituents.
The organisation stated that Senator Karimi’s influence and popularity have continued to grow across the local government areas that make up Kogi West, including Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopamuro, Lokoja, Koto Karfe and Kogi Local Government Areas.
It further alleged that the individuals behind the communiqué were acting on behalf of faceless political interests threatened by the senator’s growing political momentum and the increasing endorsement of his leadership across the district.
The group dismissed as unfounded the allegation that the senator was sponsoring shadowy groups to undermine party leadership, stressing that Karimi has remained committed to the unity and stability of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State.
KW, TAKREP said the statement was merely an attempt to divert public attention from what it described as the senator’s strong advocacy for equity, fairness and responsible representation in the politics of the state.
The group therefore called on members of the public and the APC to disregard the communiqué, maintaining that it does not represent the views of the majority of party members in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area or the wider Kogi West Senatorial District.
It reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising grassroots support for Senator Karimi, adding that the people of Kogi West remain resolute in their support for credible leadership and progressive representation.
