Hon. Christopher Haruna Nwaing, Bags IBDFM Fellowship Award

A two-time Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. Christopher Haruna Nwaing, has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship Award of the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management (IBDFM).

The award was presented alongside those of other distinguished Nigerians with exceptional records of service in both the public and private sectors during the Institute’s 89th Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD), Induction, and Investiture Ceremony for new members. The event, themed “Exploring the Role of Financial Managers in Business Turnaround Strategy,” was held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Conference Hall 2, Novare Central Mall, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

The Fellowship Award was conferred on Hon. Nwaing in recognition of his outstanding understanding of business diplomacy, financial management, professional ethics, and leadership. It also acknowledges his remarkable contributions during his two tenures as Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, a period widely associated with significant multidimensional transformation and development within the council.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Hon. Christopher Haruna Nwaing expressed profound appreciation to the Institute for finding him worthy of its highest professional recognition. He described the fellowship as a great honour that would inspire him to contribute more through research and professional engagement toward the advancement of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management in Nigeria and beyond.

Beyond the colourful ceremony and celebrations, his induction and investiture as a Fellow of the Institute of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management stand as a strong affirmation of his reputation as a seasoned professional, accomplished administrator, and respected political leader. The honour recognizes his outstanding contributions and enduring impact in both the public and private sectors.

The fellowship further reinforces his standing as a reference point in the field of Business Diplomacy and Financial Management, reflecting his unwavering commitment to excellence, professionalism, ethical leadership, and national development.

Hon. Christopher Haruna Nwaing is also a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Risk and Investment Managers of Nigeria (IPRIMN) and the Institute of Creative and Innovative Management of Nigeria (ICIMN).
He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, between 1990 and 1992 before proceeding to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, where he studied Business Management and graduated in 1998. In 2003, he completed an Advanced Financial Management Course at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, and later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from ATBU, Bauchi, in 2010.

Hon. Nwaing first served as Executive Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area in 1996 and returned to the same office from 2012 to 2014. Earlier in his career, he served as a Higher Education Officer with the Kaduna State Ministry of Education from 1981 to 1996. He subsequently worked as Chief Supervisor with the Petroleum Equalization Fund (Management) Board from 1998 to 2010.
His distinguished career in public service, coupled with his continuous pursuit of professional excellence, has earned him widespread recognition as an administrator, financial management professional, and community leader committed to sustainable development and good governance..
