Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, Visits Closed Songo Cattle Market in Iyara

The Honourable Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area in Kogi State, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, today paid a visit to the closed Songo Cattle Market in Iyara. The purpose of the visit was to assess the level of compliance with the directives issued to address security concerns in and around the market area.

Hon. Ibrahim emphasized that the safety and security of the people of Ijumu remain his top priority. He stressed the importance of ensuring that no security breaches occur within the closed market. The market was shut down to prevent criminals from exploiting it as a hub for illegal activities, thereby safeguarding the lives and property of Ijumu residents.

During his visit, the Chairman reiterated the commitment of His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state. He commended the Governor for his unwavering support and prompt response to the security challenges facing Ijumu Local Government.

As part of the enforcement measures, individuals found within the closed market were ordered to leave, while suspected criminals were promptly arrested by security personnel on-site.

Hon. Haruna Ibrahim expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State for his continued support and timely intervention in addressing the security concerns of the Ijumu community. He assured residents that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment, allowing the people of Ijumu to live without fear of insecurity.
