IDRUFEM Calls for New Security Approach in Bunu Land Amid Escalating Violence
A frontline aspirant for the Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the upcoming 2027 political dispensation, Dr. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (IDRUFEM) has urged the government to reassess its security strategy in Bunu Land, citing the escalating violence and killings.
In a statement, IDRUFEM expressed sympathy for affected families and emphasized that communities shouldn’t live in fear. He advocated for a proactive, intelligence-driven approach involving local stakeholders to address insecurity’s root causes.
Acknowledging security agencies’ efforts, IDRUFEM stressed the need for a strategy review, citing the continued violence. He urged state and federal authorities to act decisively to restore peace and protect lives and property.
IDRUFEM appealed to community leaders, youths, and residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with security agencies, highlighting collective responsibility for lasting peace and development.
“Bunu Land deserves peace, security, and development – the time for change is now,” he said, calling for a collaborative and proactive security strategy.
