ILUKE ATTACK: HON. SANNI JIDE CRIES FOR HELP, SEEKS IMMEDIATE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION IN KOGI WEST OVER RECENT ILUKE ATTACK
_FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE_
Hon. Sanni Jide, a prominent philanthropist and aspirant for the Kabba/Bunu-Ijumu Federal Constituency seat, has passionately called on the Federal Government, Kogi State Government, and relevant security agencies to urgently intervene in the worsening security situation across Kogi West, particularly following the recent attack on Iluke Community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident that reportedly claimed lives, caused injuries, and left residents in fear and uncertainty, Hon. Sanni Jide expressed deep concern over the increasing wave of insecurity confronting communities in Kogi West. He noted that the people can no longer sleep with both eyes closed as attacks by criminal elements continue to threaten lives, livelihoods, and the socio-economic development of the region.
According to him, the attack on Iluke is not only an attack on a community but an attack on the collective peace and security of Kogi West. He stressed that the continuous assaults on innocent citizens have become a source of concern that requires immediate and decisive action from government at all levels.
Hon. Sanni Jide sympathized with the families of those who lost their loved ones, those who sustained injuries, and residents who have been displaced or traumatized by the incident. He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for quick recovery for those receiving medical attention.
He further urged the Federal Government to deploy additional security personnel, strengthen intelligence gathering, and provide adequate funding and modern equipment to security agencies operating in the region. He also called for increased surveillance of forests and border communities which have become hideouts for criminal elements.
“The people of Kogi West deserve to live in peace and pursue their daily activities without fear. The recurring attacks on our communities have become unacceptable. I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government, the Kogi State Government, and all security agencies to take urgent steps to protect our people and restore confidence in affected communities,” he stated.
Hon. Sanni Jide also appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, hunters, and local vigilante organizations to continue collaborating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information that can help prevent future attacks and expose criminal networks operating within the region.
He emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through a combination of effective security operations, community cooperation, intelligence sharing, and sustained government commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
While reaffirming his solidarity with the people of Iluke and other communities facing similar security challenges across Kogi West, Hon. Sanni Jide assured residents that their cries have not gone unheard and pledged to continue advocating for stronger government action until peace and security are fully restored.
“An injury to one community is an injury to all. This is the time for collective action, not silence. Our people deserve protection, justice, and the freedom to live without fear.”
