In Education, Ogah Complementing Nwifuru’s Giant Strides

Ben Nworie

There are so much amazing stories about the style of governance between Governor Francis Nwifuru and the member representing Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency, Comrade Chinedu Ogah. No doubt, Nwifuru believes in Education as the bedrock of progressive society.

This passion has been elevated historically with the recent sponsorship of over 200 for overseas scholarship programme. This gesture was first initiated by first Civilian governor of Ebonyi state, Dr Sam Egwu through HIPACT programme. Regrettably, subsequent administrations in the state abandoned foreign scholarship programme.

Meanwhile, as Ebonyians and indeed the general public celebrate Nwifuru’s feat on the Education sector, Ogah has revved the public space with approval of free registration of JAMB, WAEC and NECO for intending students from his constituency. This intervention has become an annual programme of the federal lawmaker, which has distinguished himself as one of the best lawmakers in the history of Ebonyi state.

In a statement issued by his Media aide, Ogah noted that this gesture was to complement the efforts of Governor Nwifuru Nwifuru to strengthen his charter of needy mantra to the people of the state.

According to Ogah: “in support of the laudable educational initiatives of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, GGCEHF, the Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Rt. Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON, has generously approved free registration for all prospective candidates from his constituency who wish to participate in the upcoming 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination”.

“In addition, Chief Ogah has graciously approved the registration of 1,000 candidates for the 2025 West African Examination Council (WAEC) exercise and another 1,000 candidates for the 2025 National Examination Council (NECO) examination”.

“Additionally, Hon. Ogah has approved a comprehensive free education program for 200 orphans and underprivileged secondary school students from Ikwo and Ezza South only. The scheme will cover all essential educational expenses, including tuition, meals, accommodation, uniforms, textbooks, and boarding fees, ensuring these deserving students can focus on their academic pursuits without financial burden”.

“Regarding the WAEC registration, data will be obtained from the 31 wards within the constituency, with WAEC and state fees included as part of this noble scheme.
Note that JAMB registration is free to everyone who intends to participate from Ikwo and Ezza South”.

“On the strength of this, the following persons shall constitute the implementation committee;
Rev. Fr. Ifeanyi Ogodo, Committee Chairman,
Hon. Emmanuel Aleke, Co-Chairman
Mrs. Ann Eke, Secretary
Rev. Fr. Innocent Chukwu, Member
Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Nwali, Member
Rev. Fr. Kenneth Mark, Member
Rev. Fr. Nnonso Nwonu, Member
Rev. Dr. Sunday Opeke, District Superintendent, AG, Ikwo, Member
Chief Principal, Onueke Zone, Member
Supervisory Councillor for Education, Ikwo, Member
Supervisory Councillor for Education, Ezza South, Member
Hon. Daniel Nwali, Member
Mr. Mike Chukwu, Member
Mr. Chika Uguru, Member and
Mrs. Chinelo Nwambe, Member.

The committee will liaise with the Commissioner for education for collection of data and onward payment”.

Ogah’s philanthropy and passion to alleviate poverty is unequalled and this has endeared him to his people. In Ebonyi politics, Ogah is a big shot that can’t be undermined and underrated.

A little peep into his political career can quickly remind Ebonyi people that Ogah is the father of APC. He laboured for APC to make an inroad into the much celebrated stronghold of PDP in 2015. Ogah won his election under the platform of the APC. He became the only man standing with the APC before 2018 when the former governor, Dave Umahi saw the need to connect Ebonyi state to the Federal Government. Since then, APC overturned PDP and became the stronghold of the State.

At the House of Representatives, Ogah has shown competence, capacity and good ambassador of the APC and Ebonyi state. His stewardship and quality representation are testaments that Ogah’s future ambition are sure bet, more especially as he remains the pride of Governor Francis Nwifuru and Ebonyi people.
