IZINYON, DAKAS TO LEAD REVIEW OF JUSTICE OMOLAYE-AJILEYE’S NEW BOOKS ON ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE, AS FOUNDATION FOR INDIGENT STUDENTS TAKES OFF
Abuja, Nigeria
Two of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal scholars, Professor Alex A. Izinyon, OFR, SAN, and Professor Dakas C.J. Dakas, SAN, have been named as reviewers for the public presentation of two landmark books authored by renowned jurist and legal scholar, Justice (Prof.) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye.
The books, Electronic Evidence (Second Edition, 2026) and A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume Two (2020–2025), are expected to further enrich legal scholarship and deepen understanding of the rapidly evolving field of digital and electronic evidence in Nigeria.
The event, which is attracting considerable attention within legal and academic circles, will also feature the launch of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation for Indigent Students, a charitable initiative aimed at supporting brilliant but financially disadvantaged students in their pursuit of education.
Professor Izinyon, a respected authority in legal education, advocacy, and arbitration, is expected to bring his vast experience and scholarly depth to the review of the publications. Likewise, Professor Dakas, SAN, Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission and an internationally recognised expert in constitutional law and public policy, is expected to offer critical insights into the relevance of electronic evidence in modern legal practice.
Legal practitioners and academics have described the selection of the two eminent scholars as a testament to the importance of the books and the growing relevance of electronic evidence in contemporary jurisprudence.
Justice Omolaye-Ajileye’s Electronic Evidence has long been regarded as one of Nigeria’s leading texts on the subject, providing comprehensive guidance on the admissibility, authentication, evaluation, and probative value of electronically generated evidence. The second edition expands on previous works by addressing emerging legal challenges arising from technological advancement.
The companion volume, A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume Two (2020–2025), documents and analyses recent judicial decisions that have shaped the interpretation and application of electronic evidence law in Nigeria.
Speaking on the educational foundation, organisers said the initiative reflects Justice Omolaye-Ajileye’s enduring passion for learning, mentorship, and social development. The foundation is designed to provide educational assistance to indigent students, ensuring that financial hardship does not become a barrier to academic success.
The combined presentation of the books and the launch of the foundation have been described as a rare blend of intellectual contribution and social impact, highlighting the author’s commitment both to the advancement of legal knowledge and to the empowerment of future generations.
A large turnout of judicial officers, Senior Advocates of Nigeria, academics, law enforcement professionals, public officials, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and members of the public is expected at the event.
Observers say the occasion will serve not only as a celebration of legal scholarship but also as a platform for promoting educational opportunities and encouraging greater engagement with the challenges and opportunities presented by technology in the administration of justice.
