KOGI ACCOUNTANT-GENERAL, DR. HABIBAT TAJJANI, HONOURED AS “ACCOUNTANT-GENERAL OF THE YEAR”

The Accountant-General of Kogi State, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani (Onumoko), FCNA, FCTI, has been honoured with the prestigious “Accountant-General of the Year” Award by Democracy Newsline Newspaper at its 16th Anniversary Public Lecture and Induction Ceremony held in Abuja.
In her acceptance speech, delivered by her representative, Hajiya Ramat Molo, Dr. Habibat expressed deep gratitude to the media organisation for the recognition, describing it as a profound privilege and a validation of the state’s commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline, and innovative financial management in the public sector.
She dedicated the award to all stakeholders in Kogi State, with special appreciation to the Executive Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, FCA, noting that the honour was a testament to their collective efforts in driving robust financial reforms that promote accountability and seamless public service delivery.
Dr. Onumoko holds a historic place as the first female Accountant-General of Kogi State. Her professional career spans accounting, taxation, local government administration, and public-sector financial management. She holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance and is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
Over the years, she has risen through the ranks of public administration to the apex of the state treasury, earning a reputation for financial discipline, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public resources. She has also been actively involved in community development and the advancement of women through initiatives under the Fair Win Women Advancement Association, FAWWASS.
