Kogi COE Ankpa Provost, Dr. Paul Fashagba, Set for Exemplary Public Service Award in Abuja, August 19
ABUJA — The Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba, has been selected to receive the ‘Exemplary Public Service Leadership Award 2026’ at the 16th Public Lecture and Award Ceremony organized by Democracy Newsline Newspaper.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 19th August, 2026 at the Banquet Hall, National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja. It will mark the 27th Anniversary of Uninterrupted Democracy in Nigeria.
According to the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Democracy Newsline Newspaper, Chief Olugbemi Femi, the award recognizes Dr. Fashagba’s outstanding contributions to education, institutional transformation, and public service in Kogi State.

“Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba has demonstrated exemplary leadership in repositioning the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa,” Chief Femi said. “His commitment to academic excellence, staff welfare, infrastructure development and student empowerment has set a new standard for tertiary institutions in the country.”
Under Dr. Fashagba’s leadership, the college has recorded improvements in accreditation processes, staff training, ICT integration, and community engagement programs aimed at producing quality teachers for Nigeria’s basic and secondary education sector.
The theme of this year’s lecture is “Economic Reform, Democracy and Sustainable Development: The Nigerian Example.” The ceremony will also feature the Induction of distinguished Nigerians into the Good Governance Hall of Fame.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include government officials, traditional rulers, education stakeholders, captains of industry, and civil society leaders.
The organizers noted that the awards are designed to celebrate Nigerians whose leadership and service have advanced democracy, good governance, and sustainable development.
Dr. Fashagba is expected to deliver a goodwill message at the ceremony and will receive a plaque and citation in recognition of his achievements.
