KOGI POLICE COMMAND CONDUCTS IN-HOUSE REFRESHER TRAINING TO ENHANCE OFFICERS’ SKILLS
The Kogi State Police Command has commenced an in-house refresher training program for its officers, aimed at enhancing their combat readiness and weapon handling skills.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the command public relations officer, SP William Ovye Aya and available to newsmen in Lokoja.
According to him, the training, which is being held at the Police Mobile Force Base 37 in Lokoja, is being led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye.
During the training session, CP Dantawaye delivered a lecture on modern policing and weapon handling, emphasizing the importance of self-discipline and responsible weapon handling. He stressed the principles of weapon handling, fundamentals of marksmanship, and weapon maneuver, highlighting their critical role in effective policing.
The trainees demonstrated their tactical proficiency by executing combat parades, including rifle stripping and assembling drills. Their skillful and synchronized performance drew commendation from instructors and senior officers present.
Addressing the officers, CP Dantawaye charged them to internalize and apply the knowledge gained during the training in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasized that capacity building efforts should not be treated as routine or forgotten but as a critical part of effective policing.
The CP reiterated that the ongoing in-house refresher training will be sustained by the Command to continue to equip officers with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
He urged the participants to remain vigilant, professional, and committed to obeying lawful instructions from appropriate authorities.
