KOGI STATE POLICE PRESS RELEASE

KOGI POLICE COMMAND HOLD CONFERENCE WITH STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT TEAM, OPERATIONAL AND TACTICAL COMMANDERS.

…As the Command received Lectures on Improved Operational capacity, Mental Health, Financial wellness, and Humanitarian Service.

The Kogi State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, today Thursday 8Th May, 2025 held a strategic conference with senior officers, Operational and Tactical Commanders, featuring enlightening lectures to enhance mental health and operational capacity for efficient performance.

The CP charged officers to adopt comprehensive crime prevention and control strategies to contain activities of criminal elements in the State. He further urged DPOs to intensify proactive crime prevention patrol as well as intelligence gathering through effective collaboration with critical stakeholders in their respective area of responsibilities.

The conference, also featured series of capacity building among officers by addressing often-overlooked aspects of their professional lives such as mental health, financial literacy, and community service. Lectures were delivered by Dr Ehiz a seasoned Psychologist, NPF MicroFinance Bank, National Blood Transfusion Service as well as Rotary Club International.

Dr. Ehiz, delivered a compelling lecture on the mental health crisis among security personnel. She cited real-life instances of suicide, emotional collapse, and substance abuse among others. Emphasizing conditions such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety. she recommended proactive mental health practices such as Psychological First Aid, emotional check-ins, and physical fitness among others. Stressing that our life and stability matters.

Also the Branch Manager, NPF MicroFinance Bank, Mr Olusegun delivered lecture on several financial products including the Police After Service Account (PASA), aimed at helping officers transition into post-service business life. Others include SME loans, Better Women loans for female entrepreneurs, and EDUFINANCE products. He assured officers of the bank’s credibility, strong regulatory backing from the CBN, and longstanding service to security agencies across the country. He further reaffirmed that financial education, SWOT analysis, and continuous support are provided to beneficiaries to ensure business success.

Another Lecture was delivered by the President, Rotary Club International, Kogi State Chapter who highlighted the Organisation’s commitment to community service and commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller. Dantawaye, for being “an identified, active member and major donor” to Rotary’s Humanitarian efforts. She described the CP as a beacon of service beyond his uniform and a bridge between law enforcement and charity. Free medical services were also offered to officers as part of Rotary Family Health Day, including screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria, hepatitis, and prostate conditions.

Additionally, Lecture was also delivered by Mrs Ibeh Gina, a Staff of National Blood Transfusion Service on the importance of voluntary blood donation. She explained the process, health benefits, and the impact on recipients such as accident victims, pregnant women, and children with anemia. She urged officers to become regular donors due to their good health and physical fitness, stressing that “every pint of blood donated is a chance to save a life.”

In his closing remarks, CP Miller G. Dantawaye expressed deep appreciation to all the guest speakers and participants. He described the lectures as transformational, urging senior officers to cascade the knowledge within their respective Divisions. He further stated that mental wellness is as critical as physical fitness in modern-policing. Also stressed that Financial empowerment builds confidence, while humanitarian service strengthens community trust. He urged Officers to let this conference inspire a change in how they support their subordinate at every level.

He charged officers to ensure the knowledge acquired is cascaded to their subordinate.

The CP reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to fostering welfare-driven leadership within the Kogi State Police Command and maintaining strong collaboration with civic and humanitarian organizations.
