KOGI WEST 2027: KARIMI REMAINS AUTHENTIC APC CANDIDATE, SAY STAKEHOLDERS
_Dismiss ‘Daydream’ of Samuel Bamidele Aro,
Say Rt. Hon. James Faleke Remains the Pride of Kogi State_
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi West Senatorial District have reaffirmed that Senator Sunday Karimi remains the authentic candidate of the party for Kogi West, insisting that any attempt to project another name is a “daydream.”
The stakeholders stated this in a statement signed by Ayodele Gbenga in response to a gathering of some government appointees who met in Lokoja early today to portray Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro as an alternative candidate for the 2027 senatorial race.
According to them, the move lacks both political and constitutional backing because Aro did not participate in the APC primary election that produced Senator Karimi.
“It will be recalled that Senator Sunday Karimi emerged through a transparent APC primary and was duly affirmed by the party’s Appeal Committee and the National Working Committee. He is the candidate recognized by the party at all levels,” the statement read.
The stakeholders described the Lokoja meeting as the gathering of a few appointees who are “only daydreaming” by attempting to float a candidate who has no locus in the contest.
“Government appointees who gathered themselves in Lokoja are only daydreaming if they think of Samuel Bamidele Aro, who did not participate in the party primary,” they said.
The stakeholders further described Rt. Hon. James Faleke as “the pride of Kogi State and a shining example of representation and loyalty to the APC,” stressing that any individual or group that seeks to cast aspersions on the respected leader will be resisted.
They urged members of the party in the seven LGAs of Kogi West — Kabba/Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East, Yagba West, Mopa-Muro, Lokoja, and Kogi/Koton-Karfe — to remain calm and continue to support Senator Karimi, whom they described as “a performer and a loyal party man.”
The statement further called on the APC leadership in the state and at the national level to disregard what it termed “distractions” and focus on consolidating the gains of the party ahead of 2027.
Efforts to get the reaction of Hon. Samuel Bamidele Aro as of press time were unsuccessful.
