KOGI WOMEN FARMERS TO BE PROVIDED WITH AGRICULTURAL IMPUTS TO HELP BOOST FOOD PRODUCTION IN THE STATE.
Kogi State Government has reiterated its commitments towards providing maximum support to women who are into agricultural activities in the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Timothy Ojomah, made the assertion when he received members of Kogi women farmers initiative in his office in Lokoja.
Mr Ojomah who described women as the genetic makeup of men commended members of the Kogi Women Farmers for taking up the laudable initiative towards ensuring self reliance and support to their husbands.
He applauded the leader of the group, Mrs Comfort Azubike for her doggedness urging members of the group to give her necessary support to enable them achieve their desired goal.
The Commissioner stressed that agriculture is one major thematic areas of Governor Yahaya Bello and promised to engage the women in full scale packaging and branding of agricultural products that can compete favorably at international markets, adding that they will benefit from Government agricultural imputs support program.
Earlier, in her address, the president, Kogi Women Farmers lnitiative, Mrs Comfort Arokoyo Azubike said members of the group cut across the 21 Local Government Areas in the state, adding that, they are into the production of rice, Cocoa, red oil, ginger, coffee,herbs, pigeon pear, cashew, cassava, fish, pepper amongst others.
Mrs Comfort who commended Governor Yahaya Bello for placing Kogi State on a pedestal of greater development solicited the support of the Commissioner in the areas of empowerment and provision of agricultural imputs to ;its members.
