The Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) and Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) have made significant strides in boosting agricultural productivity in Kano State by distributing mechanized farming equipment.
Democracy Newsline reports that the distribution of the equipment, took place on Monday during a high-level workshop on agricultural transformation, focusing on the crop value chain of the KSADP.
During a high-level workshop on agricultural transformation, 12 combine harvesters, 10 Hijet vehicles, solar-powered pumps, knapsack sprayers, and welding kits, among other tools, were handed to farmers.
This initiative, funded by the Islamic Development Bank, Lives and Livelihoods Fund, and KSADP, aims to modernize agriculture and address challenges such as low productivity and climate change.
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, urged beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment to benefit themselves and the wider community.
Dr. Amit Roy, Chairman of SAA, emphasized that the collaboration with Kano State is a model for improving agricultural resilience through technology.
Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by Mr. Vitalis Otese, praised the partnership as a replicable success for other northern states.
Beneficiary Habiba Muhammad expressed her gratitude, showcasing the project’s tangible impact on farmers’ livelihoods.
The workshop not only highlighted these achievements but also served as a platform for future collaborations and funding opportunities to expand the initiative beyond Kano.
