KSU KABBA ORGANIZES TWO DAYS OF TRAINING FOR ITS ACADEMIC STAFF ON THE USE OF GOOGLE WORKSPACE IN THE PEDAGOGY
The management of the Kogi State University, Kabba as part of its priority to prepare its workforce to be digitally inclined has organized a two-day training session for the academic staff on the use of Google Workspace on the pedagogy.
The training program which was held at Lisa Palm Hotel, Kabba and well attended by all academic staff of the institution, had professional resources persons from other citadels of learning; the University of Ilorin and Federal University Lokoja to put them through more than six different topics that will enable them to carry out their assignment of teaching the students digitally.
Speaking to journalists immediately after the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kehinde Eniola said it has become imperative for the management as part of their cardinal focus to prepare the teaching staff who have the responsibility of lecturing the students in various fields to be digitally inclined hence the need for the training session, stressing that training and retraining will be a phenomenon as that is the only way the institution will continue to maintain its standard among the comity of universities in Nigeria.
He said since the world has become a global village, the essence of those who will be teaching the students has also become mandatory for them to be versatile in carrying out their works digitally to make real his promise to make the institution a digital base.
He further said the two days of training on using Google Workspace have exposed them to how to use the computer application to enhance their work effortlessly hence making them global professionals that are up-to-date in the field of teaching, stressing that he is most fulfilled to see the academics staff to acquire knowledge that will be most beneficial to them, students and the institution.
He noted that with the knowledge acquired, the academic staff will have no hindrance to delivering their lectures to the students in real-time, pointed out that nothing is happening in the world today without computer applications, stressing that the Administrative and Account departments would also have their turn next week and after respectively.
The Director of Academic Planning of the institution, Professor Olanrewaju Olutimehin was full of praises to the management led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Eniola who graciously approved the training session for the academic staff ahead of the resumption of the second semester.
He said the institution is ready to take the world by surprise as the exploits that will be done by the students that will pass through the citadel of learning will shake the entire globe shortly as the academic department under his watch will not leave any stone unturned to continue to maintain standard using up-to-date technology that will assist them to carry out their work effectively and efficiently.
Participants who spoke to journalists commended the management of the University for the Innovative training that has exposed them to further skills of using the Google Workspace to enhance their day-to-day work and promised to judiciously apply what they have learned in discharging their duties going forward.
Also speaking, the Public relations officer of the institution, Hon. Tade Oshaloto said the training program is part of the concerted efforts of the management to prepare the workforce of the school to undertake the tasks of giving the best to the students to become a solution provider to societal problems as the world moves on.
Meanwhile, about 100 members of the academic staff participated in the training program with a promise to make them certified digitally.
