Late Chief Dr. E.K. Clark Was a Respected Bastion of Hope in the Time of Hopelessness – Dr. Akpo Mudiaga Odje

By Wilson Macaulay

DR Akpo Mudiaga Odje, a renowned Constitutional Lawyer based in Warri Delta State has described Late Chief EK Clark as a respected bastion of hope in the time of hopelessness, to the Niger Delta people in Particular and Nigeria in general .

DR Odje noted that in the annals of Nigerian history, few names command as much reverence and admiration as that of Late Chief Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, thus his passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy remains indelible, as a beacon of hope and justice for generations to come.

DR. Akpo Mudiaga Odje, the renowned Constitutional Lawyer in his tribute to the departed elder statesman, described late Chief DR EK Clark CON CFR as a “respected bastion of hope in the time of hopelessness.”

Dr. Odje the erudite lawyer extolled Chief Clark as a global citizen, an iconic political leader, and a tireless advocate for the rights and dignity of the Niger Delta people. “He was an accomplished human being, a father of ethnic nationalities in this great country, and a father of justice and truth. He shunned all forms of tricks to obscure the truth,” Odje noted.

Reflecting on his immense contributions to the Nigerian political and socio-economic landscape, Dr. Odje stated that Chief Clark’s legacy transcends generations. “His graphic memories can never be forgotten. He was the greatest propagator against propaganda, a distinguished lawyer whose impact can still be felt across the nation. Indeed, Pa Clark may have passed away, but his works shall never stop. His landmarks can never be erased. Above all, the citadel of learning he established, The Great Edwin Clark University, will live forever. A special faculty or department will be opened to study him and his life,” he added.

He recalled how Pa Clark requested to meet with him as a young Constitutional Lawyer when his son gained admission to Edwin Clark University, how they met in Abuja and the profound impact of their conversation on contemporary progress of Project Nigeria.

Dr. Odje urged Nigerians to take a moment of silence to honor the memory of the great leader, a man whose unwavering dedication to truth and justice served as a guiding light to many. “May the great colossus, our father’s positively militant soul, find rest in perfect tranquility in Jesus’ name.”

HRH DR JOHN HOLT OLOGHO further stated that while no man is destined to live forever, Chief Clark’s passing at the ripe age of 97 is a testament to a life well-lived. “He fought a good fight for the Niger Delta people, and we will remember him eternally for that.
