NIESV Kogi Congratulates New AEAN Chairman, Calls for Stronger Professional Standards in Real Estate
The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Kogi State Branch, has congratulated the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Association of Estate Agents in Nigeria (AEAN), Kogi State Chapter, ESV Abdulwasiu F. Muhammed, RSV, and his executive committee, describing their inauguration as a significant milestone in the advancement of professional estate agency practice in the state.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of NIESV, Kogi State Branch, ESV John O. Eniwaiye, MNIVS, MCIA, RSV, the institution said the inauguration of the third AEAN Chairman comes at a critical period when professionalism, regulation, and ethical conduct are increasingly essential to restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
According to Eniwaiye, AEAN has a strategic role to play in promoting order and professionalism within the industry by registering, training, and ensuring ethical compliance among non-Estate Surveyor and Valuer practitioners under the supervision of NIESV and the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON).
“We see AEAN as a vital association capable of registering, training, and instilling ethical standards among estate agents under the direct guidance and oversight of NIESV and ESVARBON. This collaboration is essential to sanitising the real estate sector and protecting members of the public from unqualified practitioners,” he said.
The NIESV Chairman explained that, as the parent professional body, NIESV remains the technical backbone for AEAN by providing professional training, setting industry standards, and ensuring compliance with established best practices.
“While AEAN strengthens estate agency practice, NIESV will continue to provide technical leadership and maintain its statutory responsibility in valuation, compulsory acquisition, taxation, land administration, financial reporting, and other specialised consultancy services. These are core professional responsibilities that must remain in the hands of qualified and registered Estate Surveyors and Valuers,” he stated.
Eniwaiye further stressed that closer collaboration between the two organisations would help eliminate quackery, improve service delivery, and strengthen investor confidence in Kogi State’s real estate sector.
He expressed confidence in the leadership capacity of the newly inaugurated Chairman, describing ESV Abdulwasiu F. Muhammed as “a tested professional and a committed member of NIESV whose experience and dedication will further strengthen AEAN in Kogi State.”
“We are confident that under his leadership, AEAN will deepen its collaboration with NIESV to promote professionalism, uphold the provisions of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Act No. 24 of 1975, now CAP E. 13 LFN 2007, encourage ethical agency practice, and support government with credible data for housing development, land administration, and investment planning.”
The statement reaffirmed NIESV’s commitment to working closely with the new AEAN executive to reposition the real estate sector for sustainable growth.
“Together, we can build a more transparent, professionally regulated, and investor-friendly real estate industry that creates employment opportunities and contributes meaningfully to the economic development agenda of the Kogi State Government.”
The institution wished the newly inaugurated executive a successful tenure, expressing optimism that their leadership would foster innovation, unity, and greater achievements for AEAN and the real estate profession in Kogi State.
