“No Deal With TJ Yusuf”: Hon. Dele Bello Williams Insists He Remains Kogi West PDP Senatorial Candidate For 2027
LOKOJA — Kogi West PDP chieftain, Hon. Dele Bello Williams, has dismissed reports of an internal arrangement with former House of Representatives member, Hon. TJ Yusuf, ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that he remains the party’s recognized senatorial candidate for Kogi West.
Speaking in an interview, Hon. Williams said the party has not notified him of any change, substitution, or agreement regarding the Kogi West senatorial ticket.
“There’s no internal arrangement between him and Hon TJ Yusuf, that party didn’t notify me of anything. I am still the candidate,” he declared.
Hon. Williams cautioned the PDP leadership against any attempt to compromise the process, warning that such a move could jeopardize the party’s chances in Kogi West in 2027.
“That party should not compromise. If not, PDP Kogi West senatorial will not have a candidate for the general election in 2027,” he stated.
The Kogi West PDP ticket has been a subject of political discussion in recent weeks, with different names being mentioned as possible contenders.
Hon. Williams, who contested the Kogi West senatorial seat on the platform of the PDP in previous elections, said he remains committed to the party and is prepared to prosecute the 2027 race if given the mandate.
He urged party leaders at both state and national levels to follow due process and respect the aspirations of members to avoid internal crisis that could weaken the PDP ahead of the general elections.
Party officials in Kogi are yet to officially respond to Hon. Williams’ remarks.
